Likoma Island Festival returns this weekend

All is set for Likoma Island Festival which will take place from October 12 to 15 at Domino Coconut Resort.

The event, whose main goal is to promote the island as a tourist destination, returns after a six-year break due to economic hiccups.

In an interview, Likoma Island Festival director of events and public relations manager Patrick Ulele Chikoti said transportation activities starts today.

“We have now deployed our tour guides in different docking stations as receptionists to guide people to the festival,” he said.

Chikoti said there is visible growth and developments on the island, an indication that people will not have to worry about finding nice venues.

“There has been a lot of improvement and the island is developing as a tourist’s destination. People who are coming to the festival should look forward to enjoying their four days on the island,” he said.

Musician Lulu has confirmed that he will perform at the festival.

“I will be at the festival and people should expect an amazing performance as usual. We will give our best. It is my first time in Likoma for my band and we are excited to perform. It is going to be fire and a lot of energy,” he said.

Other musicians such as Sangie and Pop Young have taken it to their Facebook pages to confirm their attendance.

Other activities such as traditional dances, boat cruises, canoeing, tours and parties will also take place.
